A well-known object that ogther objects can use to find common objects and services.
A Registry is essentially a global object, or at least it looks like one - even if it isn't as global as it may appear.
Note that a Singleton[GOF] acts as a Registry but a Registry is not necessarily a Singleton. This is discussed in more detail in "Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture"[PEAA].
